Whitley County Transit

The fares listed below are per person and based on one-way trips. 

• 1-4 miles: $6 one way & $12 round trip
• 5-10 miles: $8 one way & $16 round trip
• 11-15 miles: $12 one way & $24 round trip
• 16-25 miles: $15 one way & $30 round trip
• Over 25 miles: $17 one way & $34 round trip
• Out of County: $29 one way & $58 round trip
• Children under age 12 ride free with an adult. Adult must provide car seat.
• Veterans - $20 round trip for out-of-county trips (graciously subsidized by the Community Foundation of Whitley County).
• Working Seniors 60+: Public rates apply.
• Seniors 60+: Donation only for rides within Whitley County. Service is not denied to anyone not able to donate.

Cancellations must be reported in advance to avoid a "no-show" fee of $10.00 in town and $14.00 out of town.

Exact payment is required. For your convenience, you may purchase Transit Punch Cards for $40 per card (a $45 value).  

WCT serves individuals of all ages and operates Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 5 PM and does not operate on the following holidays listed below. 

• January 1st - New Year's Day
• March 29th - Good Friday 
• May 27th - Memorial Day
• July 4th - Independence Day
• July 5th - Independence Day 
• September 2nd - Labor Day
• November 28th - Thanksgiving
• November 29th - Thanksgiving
• December 23rd - Christmas
• December 24th - Christmas 
• December 25th - Christmas
• December 31st - New Year's Eve

When a WARNING for Whitley County is issued, the Whitley County Council on Aging offices, nutrition/activities and Whitley County Transit (WCT) will be closed.

In the event of a WATCH: the office will be open but nutrition/activities will be closed. WCT will be in operation with no out-of-county trips except dialysis and limited local medical trips.

In the event of an ADVISORY: all offices, nutrition/activities and WCT will be operational; however, we reserve the right to take further action based on impending weather changes. Watch WANE TV to check for cancellations. 

Clients may use this service for various transportation needs, including trips to the doctor's office or hospital, place of employment, or to local events. Transportation is also available for children attending daycare or school. Car seats or booster seats must be provided.

We cannot guarantee same day service, so please make reservations 48 hours in advance for trips within Whitley County. Whenever possible, please contact us two weeks in advance for trips outside of Whitley County. Service is on a first come first serve basis, limited to available capacity. 

Call (260) 248-8944 ext. 1 or (800) 290-1697 between 8 AM and 1 PM for a trip the next business day or up to 30 days in advance. 

Trips are scheduled on a first come first serve basis. We kindly ask that passengers are ready 15 minutes before their scheduled time. To adhere to the schedule, drivers will wait only 5 minutes for a passenger before proceeding to the next stop. Please call if a van has not arrived to pick you up within 15 minutes of your scheduled appointment.

Please note WCT is a shared transportation service. You may have to wait while other clients are being picked up or dropped off before arriving at your destination.

The scheduler will need the following information in order to set up your ride:

1. Name
2. Travel date
3. How many people accompanying you
4. Pick up and destination addresses
5. Time of arrival at destination
6. Pick-up time at destination (if applicable)
7. Medicaid number (if applicable)
